"That government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth..."

These words spoken by our 16th President over 150 years ago, on the heels of what is arguably the greatest battle in American history, during the greatest conflict of American history, are still relevant today.

This Government "of the people," could not exist if it were not "by the people." This Government "by the people" would not exist if it were not "for the people."

And while it is those statements alone that embody our democracy, it's the "shall not perish..." that serves as our reminder.

​​​

A reminder that our democracy, which serves as the foundation upon which we launch all of our hopes and dreams, is as fragile as the next generation's commitment to protect it.

​​

A reminder that the greatest fuel to our democracy, its source of nutrients, its lifeline, are its people. And just as nutrients are essential to the body, we as Americans are essential to our government.

​​

Not only is it our responsibility to safeguard this experiment created in a document authored by our founding fathers, but it's our duty to ensure as it was then, it is now and it will forevermore be, "for the people."

It's for this reason, for my commitment and love of our democracy, our country, and Texas, for my appreciation of the contributions by generations who have gone before, ensuring that our government will always be "for the people," that I am running for office in the 2027 Legislature of the State of Texas. ​​
