My Approach

Legislation provides a framework that serves as the cornerstone of our American ideals, giving everyone the opportunity to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We must adopt a posture of transparency, trusting in the feedback of our subject matter experts. With empathy, we must listen to the voices of our constituents, the very people impacted by the decisions we make. We must allow leaders at our local level the latitude to make decisions, providing the support and resources whenever and wherever it's needed. Texas, should set the standard, as we do in everything else, on the legislative process.

As your representative, I will be committed to the development of a mechanism and strategy that promotes collaboration. Especially for the counties, cities and areas in which I serve

Healthcare Advocacy & Partnership

Healthcare is as critical an institution as any we depend on. It's embedded into the fabric of who we are and is essential to a functioning society. Today, there are a growing number of challenges that threaten our healthcare system. If we want to protect healthcare as a right, one accessible and available to all, we need advocacy, we need partnership. There are 4 important challenges I foresee that we must address:

First and foremost, we must ensure the continued safety and security of our healthcare workers; We've seen far too many illustrations of violence within the healthcare setting

Secondly, we must partner with our providers to address the increasing rate of denials and costs. Caring for people shouldn't be a weight or a burden; denials should be the exception not the rule

Third, we must provide access. Texas continues to grow at a rate unprecedented. As more and more people are pouring into our cities, as our rural communities continue to grow, we stretch the capacity and resources of our providers. We must collaborate on a strategy to address this growth

We must make 'Behavioral Health' a priority. Especially for our youth and our veterans. More emphasis needs to be placed on their well being, both mentally and physically.
